Orchestras for All
Orchestras for All are a brilliant and innovative charity with income of c. £500k whose mission is to unlock access to the life-changing experience of ensemble music making for 11-18 year olds with complex lives.
We started working with Orchestras for All in August 2017 as they exceeded the limit of £250k income for producing their annual accounts on the cash basis. With this threshold having been passed, they realised they needed to transform the way they managed their finances, having previously handled everything apart from payroll internally and on Excel spreadsheets.
We spent time with the team to understand what they needed from their systems and finances moving forward, identifying key themes around donor funding reports, reporting against their three major programmes and also moving as much as possible off paper systems and onto online processes, whilst minimising the amount of administration for the already stretched team. They also needed support producing their first set of statutory accounts in the accruals basis which included restating the prior two years of accounts to ensure they were re-presented on this basis.
Following this, we now act as their fully outsourced finance function providing everything from day to day bookkeeping and payroll, to production of their statutory accounts and supporting them through their independent examination. We also support their Executive Director on day to day financial strategy.
“Working with Andy Nash Accounting & Consultancy has revolutionised our financial processes here at Orchestras for All. As a small charity with limited financial expertise in house, we have benefitted greatly from Andy’s wealth of experience”
Nick Thorne,
Executive Director
“We have benefitted greatly from Andy’s wealth of experience of charity finance and his flexible approach to setting up systems that work for our needs. Andy has worked closely with our board of trustees to ensure they’re regularly receiving the information they need to make informed decisions around managing financial risk, as well as working closely with our programme managers so we have an up-to-date understanding of our financial position.
The transition to working with Andy was very straightforward. He took time to understand what we needed from our financial systems and worked closely with our management team and trustees during the first few months of the partnership. Our team received training and briefing documents on how to use the new systems, and Andy also worked closely with our former payroll provider to ensure a smooth transition of payroll.”
